Annette Lucille Berry

December 28, 1940 — October 18, 2025

Swansea

It is with a grieving heart that I share the passing of my Mama, Annette Peele Berry. Mama took her last earthly breath at noon on October 18, 2025. She was born on December 28, 1940, to the late Otis and Lucille Harley Peele. She was the wife of the late Everette “Ebb” Berry. Mama was a small but fierce woman who worked until her health declined in 2023. Mama was a lifelong resident of Swansea; she owned and operated Berry’s Red Dot until her retirement. Mama considered her customers family and loved them dearly.

She leaves me, Kimberly Spires her daughter and my husband James to cherish her memory. She was most fond of her grandchildren, Devin Spires (Carmon), Brooke Spires (Elizabeth) and her great-grand daughter Addison Mae Spires. She leaves behind a brother-in-law, Donald Berry as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by a stepdaughter, Shirley Berry, and a step grandson, Bill Berry.

She was predeceased by her sister Bertha (James) and her brothers, Junior (Gertie), Horace (Viola), Harold (Mary), Robert (Mary), Hubert, and Dempsey. She was also predeceased by her lifelong friend and sister-in-law, Virginia Berry as well as a stepson, Everette Berry, Jr.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00pm Wednesday, October 22nd at Swansea First Baptist Church with Reverend H. Larry Jones officiating. Immediately following the service, burial will be at Salem Baptist Church, North, SC. Visitation will be at the funeral home on Tuesday, October 21st between 6 pm and 8 pm.

The family will be receiving friends at 675 Martin Neese Road, Swansea.

Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home of North will be handling the arrangements.
