Carole Mae Edelmann, 85, of Swansea, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on August 21, 2026 at Lexington Community Hospice House – Agape Care. Carole was born January 25, 1941, in Washington, D.C., to Theodosia Sterling Whitney Williams and Louis David "LD" Williams. She grew up in Morningside, Maryland, with three siblings, two brothers and a sister.
As a young woman, Carole worked as a secretary and typist. It was during this time that she met JG "Donald" Edelmann, who worked at a neighboring business. Their meeting marked the beginning of a life together that would span a 64-year marriage and include two children, Eric Edelmann and Dawn Kemmerlin.
On September 17, 1972, Carole and Donald were baptized as Jehovah's Witnesses. From that time forward, the Christian ministry became a deeply important part of both of their lives. Carole was known for her zeal for the preaching work, as well as for her kind and generous spirit.
In 1978, Carole and Donald moved their family south to Swansea, South Carolina, where they would remain for the rest of their lives.
Carole was preceded in death by her grandson, Justin Michael Whitehurst, and her beloved husband of 64 years, JG "Donald" Edelmann.
She is survived by her son, Eric Edelmann and his wife, Stacy; her daughter, Dawn Kemmerlin and her husband, John; her grandson, Matthew Whitehurst and his wife, Emily; and her two great-grandchildren, Crawford and Celia Whitehurst.
A memorial service will be held September 12, 2026 at 3 pm at the Saint Matthews Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 57 Caw Caw Hwy, Saint Matthews SC 29135.
