Christabel Chavis

Christabel Chavis, 90, of Swansea, S. C. passed away on Sunday, April 2, 2023.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM, Thursday, April 6, 2023 at St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church with Rev. H. Larry Jones officiating.  The family will receive friends one hour before the funeral from 2:00 – 3:00 PM at the church.  Burial will follow in Sunny Vista Church of God.

Mrs. Chavis was born in North, S. C., a daughter of the late Charley Hampton Wingard and the late Lula Alpine (Chavis) Wingard.  Mrs. Chavis was the closest thing to an angel you can find on earth, a loving mother and grandmother, known as “Nanny”.  She was a dedicated Christian Woman, very active in her church and loved to sing for the Lord.

Survivors include one daughter, Shirley Roberts; a son, Danny (Debbie) Chavis; two grandsons, Daniel (Christian) Chavis and Jeremy (Lauren) Corley; three great grandchildren, Trey Chavis, Dylan Corley and Autumn Jamison; a son-in-law, Barry Lever; special friends, Mr. and Mrs. Michael Hanes and Mr. Michael Ross Hanes and a number of nieces and nephews.  Mrs. Chavis was predeceased by her husband, Clifton H. Chavis; a daughter, Judy Lever; two sons, Charlie Chavis and Carroll Chavis; a great-grandson, Landon Chavis and her siblings.
