Corinne "Dolly" Reed Friday

Apr 17, 1936 — Aug 5, 2026

Corinne "Dolly" Reed Friday, 90, of Swansea, SC, went home to be with the Lord on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at her home in Swansea, SC, under the fine care of Edisto Hospice.

She was born April 17, 1936, in Columbia, SC, a daughter of the late Helen Riley Durham and John Woodward Durham Sr. Corinne was a 1958 graduate of Columbia College majoring in speech and drama with a minor in English.

Corinne taught English and speech at Brookland Cayce High School, Swansea High School, Travis Academy, Calhoun Academy and Willington Academy where she also put on plays. Her true love came later in radio at WTND, WDIX, WQKI and WIGL until her retirement after the death of her husband James Ray Reed.

Her early years were spent moving around while her father was in the Army but she always claimed Sullivan's Island in her heart as her true home.

Corinne loved reading and was often lost in a book. She was a member of Swansea United Methodist Church, taught Sunday school for years and sang in the choir.

In addition to her parents, Corinne was preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, James Ray Reed and second husband of nearly 13 years, Roger Coleman Friday. She was also preceded in death by her brother and sister-in-law, John W. Durham Jr. and his wife Beth Durham, and her sister Elizabeth Ann Durham.

Corinne is survived by her daughter Andrea Teresa Reed Lagos and son-in-law Jose Normando Lagos, daughter Maria Christina Reed and son Marcus James Reed.

She leaves behind special friend Becky Riley. In addition, Corinne is remembered by many extended family members and friends who will deeply miss her.
