Mr. Sandy was born in Columbia, S. C. on September 18, 1967. A beloved son of the late Michael Eugene Sandy, Sr. and the late Carol Mitchell Sandy. For the duration of his life, Roger spent the majority of his time loving and caring for his family, especially his treasured grandchildren. Roger never met a stranger and had a heart of gold. Always quick to crack a joke, give a tight hug, and would never miss the chance to tell you how much he loved you. Although Roger was never but a phone call away, you would more than likely find him under the hood of his 1975 Chevrolet Cheyenne. He was a remarkable mechanic, often able to fix any vehicle, tractor or anything he could get his hands on. If he wasn’t working in the shop, you could also find him in the woods or on the water. Specifically in the shallow, wooded waters of Lake Marion. Often casting a line and blasting his favorite Rock & Roll band. He enjoyed a cool, misty morning in the deer stand. Sitting in the stillness of His creation. His door was always open, and he treated everyone like he had known them for years.
Survivors include his wife of 28 years, Cindy Dowd Sandy. Their love was endless and easily filled a room when they were together. A love we all admired. Roger always shared how much he loved and adored his sweet “Cindy Baby”. It was never a question that he would give his last breath for his beloved wife, his precious children and grandchildren, his cherished siblings, nieces and nephews. All of which include Dana (Steven) McCormick, Megan (Rodney) Oxendine, Kyle (Krista) Sandy and Evan (Ashley) Smith; 11 wonderful grandchildren; brothers, Ronnie (Kim) Sandy and Mike (Jennifer) Sandy, Jr.; sister, Angelina (Kenny) Johns, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Michael Eugene and Carol Mitchell Sandy, Sr. and a son, Dana Roger Sandy, Jr.
