Daniela S. McMillan, 71, passed away peacefully on November 6, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 22, 1954, in Berlin, Germany, she was the daughter of the late Amos D. Smith and Ursula Elpel Smith. Daniela dedicated 35 years of her life to serving others through her work in probation and parole, where she was respected for her compassion, fairness, and commitment to helping others find a better path.
Daniela is survived by her devoted husband, Richard Francis McMillan, Jr.; her three beloved children, David (Jennifer) McMillan, Miriam (Sam) Gault, and Kristen (Frankie) Broughman; her cherished grandchildren, Sloan McMillan, Shelton McMillan, Sidnee McMillan, Camden Osborne-Gault, Scarlett Gault, Tripp Broughman, and Logan Broughman; her siblings, Karin (Ted) Joyce and Tom (Linda) Smith; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A woman of deep faith and generous spirit, Daniela loved God, her family, and her community wholeheartedly. She was an active member of Bamberg First Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher, a member of the Women’s Missionary Union (WMU), part of the social committee for over 30 years, and a dedicated volunteer wherever help was needed.
Daniela found joy in life’s simple pleasures — gardening, crocheting, baking, cooking, and painting. She especially loved spending time at the beach with her husband. Her kindness, creativity, and warmth touched everyone who knew her.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, November 16th, from 3:00–5:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of Bamberg First Baptist Church 11823 Heritage Highway, Bamberg, SC 29003. Friends and family are invited to share memories of Daniela from 4:30–5:00 p.m.
