Delores J.V. Rucker

Delores Von Haden Rucker of Swansea, SC, passed away Friday September 11th, 2026. 

Delores was born on May 25, 1951 in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Curtis & Mary (Miller) Von Haden. She was one of seven children.

 Delores was married for 45 years to Lt Colonel Roger Rucker, and she proudly served our country as a member of the Naval Reserves. Delores was also a member of the DAR and was very active with the Naval reserve associations after leaving active service.

 After Roger retired and they returned to South Carolina, they both stayed active with veteran's causes. They were both honored in 2018 by the South Carolina State Senate and the House of Representatives with resolutions to honor and commend them for their tireless efforts to support veterans and our active-duty military in our nations armed forces.

 She loved taking pictures and always had her camera with her to make sure she could capture anybody's moments to put into frames.

 She is survived by her stepdaughter Kallea Cagle and her husband Chris, along with their three children, Garrett, Alexandra & Samantha; her siblings, Frances Daves, Stephen (Pat) Von Haden, Kenneth (Olive) Von Haden, and George (Darla) Von Haden along with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roger Rucker, sisters Virginia Von Haden and Elva Connelly, nephew, Joseph Von Haden, and a brother-in-law, Mort Daves.

 A family service will be held in South Dakota at a later date
