Donald Franklin Berry

Donald Franklin Berry, 91, of Swansea, S. C. passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2025.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, December 29, 2025, at Swansea First Baptist Church, 145 South Church Street, Swansea, SC 29160 with Rev. Chad Meredith and Rev. Terry Wilder officiating. Burial will follow in Melrose Memorial Gardens, 1750 Southbound Road, Swansea, SC 29160.

Mr. Berry was born in Swansea, S. C., a son of the late Frank Berry and the late Ethel Laird Berry. Mr. Berry retired after 50 years of service from Owens Joist Steel Corp. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather. Donald enjoyed fishing and all other outdoor activities. He brought laughter to all that knew him. He was also an avid reader, who loved history and watching old Westerns in his free time. Mr. Berry proudly served his country in the United States Navy.

Survivors include a daughter, Donette Kirkland and a grandson, Jadon Kirkland and a number of nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife of 60 years, Virginia Berry; brothers; Hampton L. Berry, James Berry and Everette Berry; sisters, Gladys Callahan, Ruby Kaiser and Myrtie Maddox.

The family will receive friends from 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Sunday, December 28, 2025, Swansea First Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, 145 South Church Street, Swansea, SC 29160
