Ethel Elaine Moorehead, beloved mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, departed this life on August 25, 2026, after a brave but brief battle with cancer. Born on November 25, 1958, in Bamberg, SC, to the late Alma Williams Weeks Sanders and Ernest Harry Weeks, she filled her 67 years with love, laughter, and an indomitable, stubborn and resilient spirit that touched everyone she met. Throughout her life, she embodied the values and resolve that were so important to her, nurturing a family that reflected her unwavering dedication and compassionate heart.
Predeceased by her parents, stepmother Betty Laura Jennings Weeks, brother Ernest Harry Weeks Jr., son-in-law Lomar Luther Blankenship (Angela), sister-in-law Pat Weeks (Walter), and grandson Donald Blankenship, Ethel now rejoins them in eternal peace. She leaves behind her devoted children, Angela Blankenship and Timothy Moorehead, who, along with his partner Vicky Ferguson, carry forward her legacy of kindness and resilience. Her siblings, Laura Jeffcoat and her husband BJ, Mary Winstead and her husband Ron, and Walter Weeks, will forever cherish the memories of their sister. Elaine was blessed with the joy of numerous grandchildren: Joey and his wife Megan Caulder, Lexie Blankenship, Ethan Lawson, Star, Tyler, and Adrianna Moorehead. Her great-grandchild, Luna Little will be ever reminded of her great-grandmother’s enduring love and sense of humor. A private ceremony will be held Saturday, September 5th from 5-7 pm at Edisto Memorial Gardens to honor Elaine’s life and memory. Though she has left this earthly realm, her spirit lives on and she will be deeply missed but lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
