Harold Lafayette Herlong

Harold Lafayette "Shakey" Herlong, 77, of North, passed away on Sunday, January 5, 2025. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, January 29, 2025 at Andrew Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Mr. Herlong was born in Columbia, SC, a son of the late Francis Marion and Caroline Livingston Herlong. Survivors include his son, William H. Herlong; daughter, Faye Mellette; stepsons, Norris Rucker and Kirby Rucker; stepdaughter, Kathy (Ricky) Sturkie; eight grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren. He was predeceased by his wife, Shirley Sharpe Herlong; a daughter, Frances Lyn Herlong; and brothers, Frank Herlong, Dennis L. Herlong and James C. Herlong. Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
