James “Jimmy” Addison Jeffcoat, 75, of Cope, passed away surrounded by his family on Thursday, January 29, 2026.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home in North. Burial will follow at Pen Branch Cemetery in North. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home.
Mr. Jeffcoat was born in Orangeburg County, the second son of the late William Daniel Jeffcoat, Jr. and Ladenia Livingston Jeffcoat. He was preceded in death by his younger sister, Laverna Cheryl Jeffcoat Speer, and her infant son, William Gregory Speer.
Mr. Jeffcoat graduated from North High School in 1968. He was an Eagle Scout and served as a scout leader. In 1970, he graduated from the South Carolina Fire Academy, and served as a volunteer firefighter for more than 55 years in North and Cope. He graduated from Columbia Commercial College with an associate degree in business and worked for 31 years as a mechanic at Carolina Eastman. He was a member of North United Methodist Church.
He was an avid deer hunter, and loved spending time in the woods. He also enjoyed fishing and turkey hunting. Mr. Jeffcoat was a jack of all trades, always quick to lend a helping hand and was a willing friend to all. He never requested or expected anything in return. He instilled a servant heart and strong work ethic in his children. He was a gentle giant, with kind eyes and a humble heart. He loved and respected all animals. He could create anything from wood and metal, leaving beautiful pieces for his loved ones to cherish.
Survivors include his wife of 50 years, Elaine Fogle Jeffcoat; daughters Kim (Chris) Kuck and Wendy (Gene) Crider; son Roy (Jennifer) Jeffcoat; grandchildren Jordan Kuck, Jamey Kuck, Emily Crider, Wyatt Jeffcoat, Mason Jeffcoat, LeeAnn Jeffcoat and Wesley Crider; brother Robert Jeffcoat and sister Sarah (Larry) Jeffcoat, and many beloved nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers are Adam Fogle, Daniel Fogle, David Fogle, Jason Fogle, Jack Hutto and Curtis Jeffcoat. Honorary pallbearers are members of Edisto Volunteer Fire Department and Edisto Hunting Club.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the wonderful nurses and caregivers at MUSC Health-Orangeburg, especially Dr. Rahmah Al Doulah.
