Mrs. Janie passed away Monday, October 26, 2026. Born in Swansea, she was the daughter of the late Grady Harmon Spires and Eva Mae Lucas Spires. She was a member of St. Paul P.H.C. and loved the Lord immensely. She read the bible, often leaving notes in her bible on certain verses that were compelling to her. She loved bird watching. She would often say "One of Gods greatest creations was the bird." Mrs. Janie enjoyed music and dancing and also doing crossword puzzles and word searches. Most importantly, she loved spending time with her family as that gave her the greatest joy. She would always make sure everyone was fed and taken care of and would often ask if you want something to eat or wanted to order something.
She is survived by her sons, Lindsey Smith Jr. (Deborah) and Ritchie "Rick" Smith (Shannon); daughter, Donna Vivod (Steve); step-children, Norman Harrison (Lynn), Charles Harrison (Anne), and Janet Casselmen (Ron); sisters, Gussie Spires and Nancy Smoak; sister-in-law, Barbara Campbell; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and her loving dog, Mojo.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Emmett Harrison; and sisters, Bernice Williamson, Alma Dial, and Sylvia Jeffcoat.
The family would like to extend their appreciation for the staff and nurses of Three Oaks Hospice for their loving support and care they showed Mrs. Janie.
