John Henry "Poppy" Barrs

John Henry “Poppy” Barrs, 84, of Swansea, S. C. passed away on February 29, 2024.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, March 4, 2024, at Trinity Baptist Tabernacle, 1101 Old Sandy Run Road, Gaston, S. C. 29053 with Pastor Jeff Scott officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 – 2:00 PM, one hour before the funeral in the church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Mr. Barrs was born in Conway, S. C., a son of the late James Wesley Barrs and the late Gussie Goodwin Barrs.  He was a faithful member of Trinity Baptist Tabernacle where he held many different positions over the years.

Survivors include his loving wife of 56 years, Barbara Goodwin Barrs; a son, John David Barrs; special sons, Tony (Cristy) Goodwin and James “Coot” (Peggy) Yon; special daughters, Pam (Royce) Herlong, Christina Skipper and Melissa Skipper; a special nephew, Billy Ray (Kristen) Skipper, Jr. and a number of great nieces and nephews. Mr. Barrs was predeceased by three sisters and one brother.

Memorials may be made to Trinity Baptist Tabernacle.
