Katie Williamson Sawyer, 94, of West Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Friday, September 4, 2026 at State Full Gospel Church, 200 State Pond Road, Gaston, SC 29053 with Rev. Jeanette Hightower officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church sanctuary.

Mrs. Sawyer was born in Aiken County, SC, a daughter of the late Elijah and Barbara Bolin Williamson. She was married to the late Dempsey Sawyer. She enjoyed sewing and was a member of State Full Gospel Church. Katie loved her family, was a God-fearing woman and her door was always open to anyone in need.

Survivors include her sons, Tommy Clegg, Jr., James "Eddie" (Donna) Clegg, Kyle L. Ward, and Kerry L. Ward; a daughter, Carolyn Risinger; seven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Jeanette Hightower and Shirley Ann Judy; and her four-legged companion, Mutley. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by a grandson; brothers, E. L. Williamson, Gene Ray Williamson, Quinton Williamson, Guy Williamson and James Henry Williamson; and sisters, Karen Mitchell, Barbara Grant, and Betty Thomas.

Memorials may be made to Harvest Hope Food Bank or St. Judes Hospital.

Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
