Marie Hutto Derrick

Marie Hutto Derrick, 90, of Swansea, passed away on Friday, January 30, 2026.

Funeral service will be held at 3:00 P.M., Thursday, February 5, 2026, at Swansea First Baptist Church, 145 S. Church Street, Swansea, S. C. 29160 with Rev. Terry Wilder officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service on Thursday at Swansea First Baptist Church. Burial will follow at Melrose Memorial Gardens.

Mrs. Derrick was born in Allendale County, a daughter of the late Clayton and Mary B. Hutto. She was married to the late David H. Derrick, Sr. Marie was a member of Swansea First Baptist Church and worked in the church nursery for 18 years. She was known by many and loved by all. She loved to surround herself with children and take care of them.

Survivors include her son, David H. Derrick, Jr.; grandchildren, Jordan Redmond (Juyong), Jenna Redmond, Jodi McClain and Aubree Derrick; two great grandchildren; a son-in-law, Gene (Judy) Redmond; and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, Marie was predeceased by her daughter, Angela Redmond; brothers, Earl Hutto, Ronald Hutto, C. L. Hutto, Richard Hutto; and sisters, Verma Metts and Dorothy "Margie" Neese. She was also survived by her extended family that helped and took good care of her and she loved very much, Addison Livingston (second son) (Kelly), Children; Carter and Riley, Jennifer (Jason), children: Ryan, Reid and Anna Claire; Becky Zeigler (David), children: Jessica, Jenna, Jonathan and Kaitlin; special friends: Janice Jones, Betty Hoffman, and Elizabeth Ruvo "Cricket".
