Marlene Hoffman Sturkie

Marlene Hoffman Sturkie, 76, a long time member of the Swansea community, died at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, the 11th of March 2020.She was born May 25, 1943 in Columbia, S. C., the daughter of Hattie Mae and T. Koins Hoffman.She was an active member of Swansea First Baptist Church.She loved singing in the choir and the Adult III Sunday School Class.Her family takes comfort in knowing that she is with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She was predeceased in death by her husband, Johnny M. Sturkie of Swansea, S. C.She is survived by three daughters, Melanie (Kurt) Wyndham, Deborah (John) Jay, and Carla Lloyd; stepchildren, Michelle Sturkie and Johnny M.(Hillary)Sturkie Jr; grandchildren, John David (Heather) Jay, Jessica (Warren) Calp, Kristen Jay, Taylor Wyndham, Brenton Lucas, Cara Lucas and Madeline Lucas; great grandchildren, Audrey and John Lloyd Jay, Mason and Logan Calp. The family will receive friends Friday, March 13th from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at Culler-McAlhany Funeral Home (www.mcalhanyfuneralhome.com) in North, S. C.In lieu of flowers, the family requests you make a donation to The Friends of Swansea Library, care of Swansea Public Library. Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, March 14, 2020 at Swansea First Baptist Church, with Pastor Terry Wilder officiating.Burial will be at Sardis Baptist Church Cemetery.
