Shelby Jean Hoffman Amaker, 89, of North, S. C. passed away on Friday, July 31, 2026.
Funeral services will be conducted at First Baptist Church of North, 405 Stafford Ave., North, S. C. 29112 on Wednesday, August 5, 2026, at 2:00 pm with Pastor Caden Brannen officiating. The family will receive family and friends from 1:00 – 2:00 pm in the church sanctuary and other times at the home of her daughter, Cynthia (Jerry) Hallman, 7726 Neeses Hwy., Springfield, S. C. 29146. Burial will follow at Riverside Cemetery, 560 Jones Bridge Road, North, S. C. 29112.
Mrs. Amaker is survived by two daughters, Connie (Jimmy) Watterson and Cynthia (Jerry) Hallman; two grandchildren, Lauren Watterson and Michael (Candice) Watterson and a number of nieces and nephews; a brother, Thurman (Alva Ree) Hoffman and two sisters, Gloria (Marvin) Judy and Joan Almond.
Shelby Jean was predeceased in death by her devoted husband of 65 years, Robert Neal Amaker; her parents, Virgil L. Hoffman and Amanda Elizabeth Robinson; sisters, Verdie Lee McCollum, Evelyn Corbett and Mary Westbury; brothers, William Hoffman and Shuler Hoffman.
Shelby Jean was a devoted member of First Baptist Church of North where she was a Sunday School teacher and Training Union Teacher for the 2 and 3 year old class. She enjoyed the outdoors, growing all varieties of flowers and bird watching.
