William M. Bill Epting, Jr.

William M. Bill Epting, Jr., 73, of Orangeburg passed away on Friday, March 6, 2026,surrounded by his loving family.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, March 8, 2026, at First Baptist Church of Sandy Run, 442 Livingston Rd, Gaston, SC 29053 with Pastor Barry Pruitt officiating. The family will receive friends after the service.

Bill was born in Orangeburg, a son of the late William M. Epting, Sr. and the late Martha Boyles Epting Snelgrove. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Sandy Run and married to Rhonda Arant Epting.

Bill started his work career with Smith’s Gulf Service as an auto mechanic; he later worked for Department of Public Utilities in Orangeburg where he retired in 2014. Bill was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, who loved spending time with his family.

Survivors include his children, Jackson (Amanda) Epting, Jordan (Caitlyn) Epting, Leanne Gartman, and Lynn (Stephen) Smith. Bill was a proud and loving grandfather to Madelyn and Tillman Padgett, Charlotte Jones, Alyssa, Helen, James, and Joey Craig, Brianna, Logan, and Evyn Smith. His siblings included a sister, Peggy (George) Fogle, and brother David (Tara) Epting. He is also survived by two aunts, Nancy Adicks and Elaine Stephens.

He was predeceased by his parents, a grandson, Ryker William Epting and numerous aunts and uncles.
