Wilson Earl Jeffcoat

Wilson Earl Jeffcoat, born November 23, 1941, passed away on January 23, 2024.  He is survived by his wife, Barbara and children, Richard (Gina), Paige (Jason) and Russell (Tonya).

Earl was also survived by many grandchildren and great grandchildren: Vivian Jeffcoat, Anthony and Andrew Maiorano (Ashley); Leigh Ann Harmon (James), Lauren Mezger (Brian), Savana Tager (Scott), Dakota Forrester; Elijah, Allison and Michael Jeffcoat.  Great grandchildren; Everleigh and John Maiorano; Zachary, Aiden, and Levi Harmon; Rylee and Jacob Mezger; Kota and Atlas Forrester; Autumn, Avery and Cash Tager.  Along with his parents, Earl was predeceased by brothers Kenneth and Michael; nephews, David Morgan and Travis Jeffcoat, and by two sister-in-laws, Gail and Donna.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Saturday, January 27, 2024, at North United Methodist Church, 8301 Salley Road, North, S. C. with Pastor Richard Toy and Rev. Tim Burleson officiating.  The family will receive friends in the church sanctuary from 10:00 – 11:00 AM, one hour prior to the service.  Following the service light refreshments will be served in the church fellowship hall.

Earl was born in North, a son of the late Wilson Jeffcoat and the late Dell Jeffcoat.

He began working for Aiken Co-op in 1962 where he retired after 33 years of dedicated service.   In 1965 he opened Jeffcoat’s Tax Service where he worked until 2020.  He enlisted in the South Carolina National Guard in 1966 and retired after 23 years of service.  Earl had an active work life and upon retiring went on many mission trips including Ecuador, St Croix, Honduras, Guyana, Zimbabwe, Haiti and many Salkehatchie service groups in the summer.  Being very mission oriented he inspired many others to serve on the mission field.  Earl’s commitment to God through the United Methodist Church was one of discipleship.  He dedicated his time and passion to the church, having served on every committee as chair at some point in his journey and also sang in the church choir.

Earl was mayor of North from 2003 to 2015. He was a member of the Masons, Jamil Temple where he held several officer degrees and active in the American Legion.
